Vinyl and Aluminum Siding Repair in Springfield, PA

Vinyl and aluminum fail in different ways. Vinyl cracks, melts near grills and unlocks in wind; aluminum dents, chalks and loosens at the nails.

  • Aluminum dents and loose panels
  • Color and profile matching

How is a hole in vinyl siding repaired?

The damaged panel is unlocked from the one above with a zip tool, unnailed and slid out, and a new panel is locked in its place and nailed loosely so it can move with temperature. Small holes are sometimes patched, but a full-panel swap looks better and keeps water out. Color matching is the hard part.

Vinyl repair kits exist for DIY, but a mismatched patch on a front wall often costs more to undo later.

Can aluminum siding still be repaired?

Yes, within limits. Loose panels can be re-fastened, small dents filled and painted, and damaged pieces replaced with salvaged or close-match panels. New aluminum siding is hard to find, so large repairs often mean borrowing panels from a hidden wall or replacing the siding. Chalky aluminum can be cleaned and repainted.

Should I repair or replace old vinyl siding?

Repair when the damage is local and the rest is sound. Replace when cracks, fading or warping show up on every sunny wall, or panels are brittle enough to crack while you work on them. Vinyl that old often will not match new panels anyway, which pushes visible walls toward replacement.

Vinyl and aluminum repair questions

Why does vinyl siding come loose in wind?
Most often because it was nailed too tightly or not locked fully into the panel below. Vinyl has to slide as it expands and contracts. Re-hanging it correctly usually fixes the problem.
Can dents in aluminum siding be popped out?
Rarely cleanly. Aluminum stretches when dented, so the usual repairs are filling and painting a small dent or replacing the piece.
